I work part time as a researcher in physics, teach most of the time and cut gemstones in my 'copious' free time. Physics and cutting share an obsessive pursuit of perfection and precision. I do not cut for a living frequently spending 20+ hrs on a stone - which is probably a 'bit much' really. I first started lapidary over 40 years ago with a number of tumblers before progressing into faceting. I am not by nature a collector so sell completed stones partly to fund upgrades to my equipment. |
